60-second J-drama Round-up: Winter 2013 edition

(I promise I haven’t abandoned this blog and will be replying to comments in due course!)

What I’m watching this season:

  • Saikou no Rikon
  • Tonbi 2013
  • Itsuka Hi no Ataru Basho de

I didn’t think the current J-drama season was going to be this good. There are a few more shows that I have my eyes on and I still have Hitori Shizuka and Tsumi no Batsu (though I’m going to have to wait till I’m in a nihilistic mood for this one) from last year. Not following any K-dramas at the moment — I need a break from the endless parade of chaebols, “geniuses”, plucky heroines and romantic contrivances. Yes, I am still bitter about the last few episodes of The King of Dramas. (more…)

Crack Video of the Week: Hentai Kamen movie trailer

This is so many kinds of stupid I don’t even know where to begin. Definitely going to watch it come April XD

Random thoughts and observations:

  • If Suzuki Ryohei’s buns and Yamapi’s moobs were to have a showdown, which one would win?
  • I’d like to know how Suzuki is going to explain this movie to his daughter when she’s old enough to talk. My guess is this: “Well, daddy lost a drinking bet with Oguri-san…”
  • I want to know what Japan puts in its water. I think I need some of it as well.

Share House no Koibito Eps 1 & 2

SnK

The story so far: Mizukawa Asami plays Tsuyama Shio, a 30-year-old singleton way too obliging for her own good. Because her boss knows she won’t kick up a fuss, he has her transferred to an ailing branch office that no one with any career preservation instincts would dream of walking within a 10-mile radius.

Owing to her personality, Shio is forever alone — but not for much longer! Deciding to take charge of her life, she moves from her small lonely apartment into a shared tree house with Kawaki Tappei, an alien (yes, you read that right and no, she doesn’t know Oizumi Yo is from outer space) and a brooding ex-salaryman (Tanihara Shosuke) who may or may not have feelings for said extra-terrestrial. So cue lots of hilarity and hijinks, right?
